The ACLS Provider Course
  has been updated to reflect new science and training recommendations in the 2020 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC. The AHA has developed new ACLS Provider Course materials that will aid in providing quality and consistency in all ACLS Courses.

ACLS is an advanced, instructor-led classroom course that highlights the importance of team dynamics and communications, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care. It also covers airway management and related pharmacology. In this course, skills are taught in large, group sessions and small, group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented:

  • Key changes in advanced cardiovascular life support, reflecting the 2020 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care
  • Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device and use of an (AED)
  • Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
  • Recognition and earlymanagement of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
  • Airway management

  • Management of acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and stroke
  • Effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team

Prerequisites

All Prospective participants in an instructor Course must:
 
  • Have current Provider status in the discipline they wish to teach
  • Have completed an Instructor Candidate Application (Provided During Registration)
  • Have the most recent edition of the AHA Provider Manual for the discipline they wish to teach (Provided During Registration)
  • Complete the discipline specific Instructor Essentials Online Course From (www.Onlineaha.org)  NOT INCLUDED

Prerequisites

  • Participants must be an RN and possess a current unrestricted nursing license to receive verification
